Here's a few shots from a Photo Play Date that we did with Irvine's Moms of 2005 Play Group. If you're not familiar with the photo play date, it's a service that we offer to parent groups free of charge - it usually takes place at a park or beach that is convenient for the group. It's a great opportunity for us meet new clients in a no-pressure environment and provide them with some fun pictures! Feel free to contact email us if you'd like to set up a Photo Play Date for your group.
Lifeguard Tower Photos

I often leave my camera at home when I go to Venice to peddle my wares, and I often find myself wishing that I brought it! There are so many good photo opportunities in Venice. There's a particular shot of the Rose lifeguard tower with a sunset that I had in my mind to capture for several weeks. Needless to say, I took my camera one day this last week and got the shot that I was looking for. But, sure enough, I ended up discovering some other shots along the way that I like even more! The following photos are the "keepers" that I have decided to sell on the boardwalk. There are a bunch more that I really like . . . maybe I'll post them later. Oh yeah, special thanks to Pedro the lifeguard for being such a good model. Pedro, if you see this, email me and I'll hook you up with some prints!
Kyle's Headshots

My good friend Kyle was in need of some new headshots so we put together a quick shoot in front of his house after he got off of work on Thursday. He happened to work late that day so we missed the "golden hour" of sunlight. Not a problem though; I mounted my 580 EX flash on a soft box and used a remote trigger to get some satisfying results. Here's some of our favorites from the 45-minute 2-look headshot session . . .
Hurly US Open of Surfing

I didn't get a weekend spot to sell at Venice Beach, so I decided to head over to Huntington Beach and catch round 16 of the US Open. I've come to find that if you want to get good surf shots, you either need to be in the water with an expensive water housing, or on the beach with an expensive super telephoto . . . needless to say, I'll remain a surf photography hobbyist for the time being. I also run into the problem that, whenever the surf is picture-worthy, I find myself surfing instead of shooting! Here's a few photos from Saturday . . .
